Spała is a well-known leisure destination located approximately 90 km from Warsaw and 7 km from Tomaszów Mazowiecki. Situated in the area of the former Pilica Forest, Spała offers convenient access from the capital via the S8 expressway. The Spalskie Forests form one of the largest forest complexes in central Poland. The Pilica River flows through this vast woodland, creating several protected natural areas, including the Spała Landscape Park. The region is also popular among kayaking enthusiasts thanks to its scenic river routes.
Spała is best known for being home to the Central Sports Centre – Olympic Training Centre, a professional training base for national and Olympic teams across dozens of sports disciplines. The centre is also regarded as one of the top rehabilitation and conference facilities in Poland. Many of the country’s most famous athletes train here, which has led to the well-known saying in Poland: “Thanks to Spała, medals are won.”
